Calumet is dedicated to delivering value to our customers.  We recently engaged with RespirTek Inc., an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certified laboratory, to perform product biodegradability testing. We received three certificates for Ultimate Biodegradability for our Penreco Versagel SQ 500T, Versagel MP750T, and Versagel M500 products.

Ultimate Biodegradability, which is considered a subclassification of inherent biodegradability, is defined by The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines as a test substance achieving greater than 60% biodegradation under specified conditions before reaching a plateau. The OECD 301B biodegradability testing monitors the degree of activity of microorganisms that are exposed to the test material. If the microorganisms recognize the material as a food source, then an increase in biological activity is observed.  At the end of the study, our Versagel SQ 500T, Versagel MP750T, and Versagel M500 products surpassed the qualifying 60% threshold.

RespirTek, Inc. is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory, that includes OECD 301B testing services related to consumer product biodegradability certifications.  The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Certification is internationally recognized.
